About Fernhaven Equestrian

Fernhaven Equestrian provides a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for riders of all ages and skill levels. Our program emphasizes confidence, correct fundamentals, and steady progress, with lessons tailored to each student’s learning style, goals, and experience. Safety, clear communication, and thoughtful instruction are at the heart of everything we do.

With hands-on experience guiding young riders and developing horses, we focus on building strong foundations both in the saddle and on the ground. Students learn not only how to ride, but also how to understand their horse, develop responsibility, and build respectful, confident partnerships. Our barn culture is rooted in kindness, consistency, and thoughtful horsemanship, creating a positive environment where riders thrive, families feel informed, and horses are cared for with respect.

How the Program Works

Initial Assessment:
All new riders begin with an assessment lesson. This allows our trainers to evaluate each rider’s current skill level, confidence, and readiness, ensuring they are placed in the lesson format that best supports their growth.

Lesson Placement:
Based on the assessment riders are placed in either private or group lessons.

Progressive Development:
As riders gain control, independence, and understanding of their horse, lessons continue to focus on refining communication, horsemanship, and responsibility. Advancement is based on demonstrated readiness, ensuring each student progresses safely and confidently

Continued Growth:
Whether a rider’s goal is building strong fundamentals, gaining confidence, or pursuing competition, our program emphasizes steady development, clear instruction, and a positive, rewarding experience for both rider and horse.

More Than Just Riding

Riding teaches far more than technical skills. Working with horses requires clarity, consistency, and appropriate boundaries — qualities that often carry over into daily life. As riders learn to communicate clearly and confidently with their horse, they also develop responsibility, emotional awareness, and quiet leadership skills that extend beyond the barn.
